3 Peaks Kitchen

On Wednesday 19th October 2011, many parents, families and guests were invited to the opening of the 3 Peaks Kitchen.

Situated in the previous office accommodation of Owl House, it was made possible by several staff members taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge back in September/October 2010. For this they climbed Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lake District and ultimately finishing with Snowdon in Wales.

Approximately £1400 was raised and Duncan Lowe (RSCW in Otter House) took on board most of the transformation of the kitchen and dining area himself. Mr Crompton also helped fit out some of the kitchen units.

The final result will allow resident children to be supervised whilst learning to prepare their own meals and also to have the potential of allowing them to invite guests to eat in the dining room.

About 40 people enjoyed a wonderful Caribbean banquet prepared by invited parents and families.

A huge thank you must go to Patrice Campbell (parent of Savion), his Auntie Dawn and Pat Atkinson (nan of Pharez) who worked tirelesly for most of the day to give us a true taste of Caribbean cooking. The event also tied in with our celebrations around Black History month.

A wonderful evening was had by all, thank you again to all those who made it possible.
